Comment:Antonospora locustae is a single-celled, intracellular eukaryotic parasite that belongs to the microsporidia group of organisms. Although microsporidia were once thought to have evolved from an ancient eukaryotic lineage before the acquisition of mitochondria, there is growing evidence that they are highly evolved fungi.

Antonospora locustae infects grasshoppers and crickets and is slow to kill its host.
